£24,000 joint funding award made by the Allan Wates and Ronald Wates Family Committees
The Orpheus Centre was founded by Sir Richard Stilgoe in 1998 to increase the independence skills of young disabled adults through the performing arts. It is a further education college in Surrey for students aged 18-25 who have learning and/or physical disabilities.
The Orpheus Centre has received a grant to formalise an outreach arts programme where students from Orpheus act as facilitators and are able to pass on what they have learnt to others. Starting in September 2014, the Centre will undertake six outreaches each year. They will partner with a variety of organisations bringing disabled and non-disabled young people together.
